How can I protect my card from theft?

To protect your card from theft and fraudulent usage, you must follow these safe practices:

  • You should not share your CVV, OTP, PIN Number, and account password with anyone
  • Do not leave your card unattended or keep it with anyone
  • Use only legitimate and secured URLs
  • Leave the ATMs only after completing a transaction
  • Avoid using public Wi-Fi to access your accounts
  • Report lost card immediately

Internet Personal Identification Number (IPIN)
  • Get your IPIN today to safely transact on the internet. Citibank now allows you to select your IPIN Online! Use the Instant IPIN module at https://www.citibank.co.in/ssjsps/ssindexmidssi.jsp today.
  • We strongly recommend that you change your IPIN at regular intervals with your own combination so that nobody but you know what your password is.
  • Always remember to log-off Internet Banking and close your browser when you have finished your online banking.
Phishing/E-mail spam
  • To ensure that you are going to an authentic Citibank site, type in the entire Citibank website address into your browser instead of clicking on the link directly. For this, you would have to type in "https://www.online.citibank.co.in" into the browser address field.
  • You should input your a/c details only on authentic Citi site i.e. either https://www.online.citibank.co.in or any Citibank URL starting with www.online.citibank.co.in otherwise you stand the risk of having your confidential data getting compromised.
  • Beware! Phony "look alike" websites are designed to trick customers and collect your personal information like date of birth, CVV, expiry date and so on. Don't reply to any email that requests your personal information.
  • Be alert for spam e-mails. These are designed to trick you into downloading a virus or jumping to a fraudulent website and disclosing sensitive information.
Imposter Pickups
  • Your Citicard is for your use only. Please do not hand it over to anybody.
  • Keep your PIN (ATM PIN, Telephone PIN and HPIN) a secret. Only you should know these numbers. Your PIN is like a signature that identifies you. Treat it with due caution.
  • Please contact CitiPhone immediately if you suspect the authenticity of any person seeking details about your Citicard.

  • Citibank Payment Gateway is one of the safest ways for Internet transactions. Please exercise due caution while entering your Card number and other details on websites not using this facility.
  • Avoid accessing Citibank Online from a public/shared computer.
Lost Cards
  • If your Citicard is misplaced/stolen, call up CitiPhone immediately so that misuse of your Citicard is minimized.
